I genuinely believe that there must be some Americans able to speak foreign languages without the ever-so-typical accent, but listening to a self-proclaimed Spanish expert showing off the vocab skills ("muchoh dhinerrho= [apparently] expensive stuff") had never been so amusing and annoying at the same time, especially given my sore throat, cough, headache (I hope you're not reading this, Mum), hurting ears and general lack of sleep. I couldn't find the legendary "querrhidos amighos" speech by Barack, but this might serve as a good insight.
Apart from that, Madrid is great as always. One of the most underrated cities in Europe, it still awakes admiration of its humble grandeur. Everything seems exactly the same as two years ago, when I intended to count myself as a local, an aim accomplished only partially. Though I could find my way from the metro station, and the city map is still not needed. And I have four more hours. No choice left but to make the best of them!
